Bavlinsky District
Bavlinsky District ((ロシア語:Бавлинский райо́н); (タタール語:Баулы районы)) is an administrative〔Constitution of the Republic of Tatarstan〕 and municipal〔Law #16-ZRT〕 district (raion), one of the forty-three in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It is located in the southeast of the republic. The area of the district is . Its administrative center is the town of Bavly〔Order #01-02/9〕 (which is not administratively a part of the district).〔Law #116-ZRT〕 Population: 14,566 (2002 Census);〔The urban-type settlement of Bavly was granted the status of the town of republic significance in 1998 and was no longer included in the district population counts during the 2002 Census, which is the reason behind a sharp drop of the total district population.〕
==Administrative and municipal status==
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Bavlinsky District is one of the forty-three in the republic.〔 The town of Bavly serves as its administrative center, despite being incorporated separately as a town of republic significance〔—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.〔
As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Bavlinsky Municipal District, with the town of republic significance of Bavly being incorporated within it as Bavly Urban Settlement.〔
